Ice on Whyte community notice

Many neighbours will be receiving, or have already received, a first notice about Ice on Whyte returning to End of Steel Park in January. Below are the details included in that notice to neighbours ahead of the festival’s wintry return to Old Strathcona.

WHEN IS THE 2016 ICE ON WHYTE FESTIVAL?

January 21 to 24 & 28 to 31, 2016

WHERE DOES ICE ON WHYTE TAKE PLACE?

End of Steel Park and Strathcona Centre Community League tennis courts and small ice rink

WHEN DOES THE FESTIVAL BUILD BEGIN?

January 2, 2016 at 8 am

HOW WILL THIS AFFECT LOCAL RESIDENTS?

End of Steel Park will be fully fenced-in early in the day on January 4, 2016 and the diagonal pathway through the park will be closed until February 6, 2016.

WHERE ARE THE ALTERNATE WALKING PATHWAYS?

Between January 2 and January 13, 2016 the sidewalk on the east side of Tommy Banks Way will be open to pedestrians and maintained by the City of Edmonton for your safety. Between January 13 and February 6, 2016 Follow the “Walk with Wally” signage. It will lead you from either 87 Avenue or from the Tommy Banks Way & Gateway Blvd intersection along maintained pathways through the Strathcona Centre Community League grounds to your destination.

Communication points are set up for the neighbourhood and are monitored by Ice on Whyte and the Community League
