Centre LRT Study

Strathcona, Downtown, Bonnie Doon

What’s the best LRT route to connect Edmontonians and visitors to Strathcona, Downtown, Bonnie Doon and east Edmonton?

Join the conversation as the City studies possible routes that could best link key destinations on both sides of the river using a low-floor, urban style LRT system. A low-floor, urban style system means the LRT flows with traffic in dedicated lanes using traffic signals with other road users and stops are located at street level like bus stops.

Share your voice to help determine the route at engagement pop-ups this summer or complete the online survey until August 13, 2017 at Edmonton.ca/centrelrtstudy.

This study includes four phases of public engagement. The first phase ends August 13, 2017. A preferred route will be shared for feedback in Fall 2017 and the route will be further developed with public input to determine stop locations, the alignment of the track in the roadway, pedestrian and cycle connections and integration into communities throughout 2018.

Open Houses: Central LRT connector Greater Strathcona

Posted by & filed under Neighbourhood, SCL.

Open houses are scheduled this month on a central LRT connector for “Greater Strathcona”, university, downtown, Bonnie Doon (Valley Line).  Both Whyte Ave and 76th Avenue are considered for the connector. Eventually, this line is expected to extend further east to Sherwood Park.

The first open house was held in Bonnie Doon on Wednesday, July 12th. Two more open houses are available for those that like to be informed:

  • Thursday, July 20 at City Hall from 11 am to 7 pm, and
  • Saturday, July 22 at St. Timothy’s Centre on 84th Ave west of 104 St. from 10 am to 2 pm.

This directly affects Belgravia, Garneau, McKernan, Queen Alex, Ritchie, and Strathcona.

Here’s the online info about the open houses and the project. You can sign up to receive email updates.

The City is studying possible routes for a future LRT route that would connect Strathcona, Downtown, Bonnie Doon and east Edmonton.

Join the conversation during this first phase of the study; your input can help us understand what is important to consider when planning LRT.

A big thank you to our Casino Volunteers

Casino Volunteers for SCCL Fundraising Photo: 123rf

We would like to give all the 44 Casino volunteers a big thank you. The volunteers contributed their time and effort by working a variety of shifts and roles at the SCCL Casino Fundraising Event.

Everyone was in a good mood and did a great job.  The Casino advisor told SCCL that clubs are making around $70,000 per casino and the work of the volunteers this weekend is essential to our community league.

The Casino is a major fundraiser event for the SCCL. Casino funds help SCCL perform many services:
– inform residents about things happening in Strathcona by newsletter delivery or other media
– organise programs and events to bring together our members and/or inform our Strathcona residents
– a voice on issues in our community
…and so much more!

Thank you for volunteering:
