Next steps: Location Wild Earth

On 6 December 2016 Bateman Properties and One Properties informed neighbours and the wider community about their plan for the Wild Earth Bakery Site on 99th Street. It was also the first time the Strathcona Centre Community League (SCCL) could inform itself about the plans. Bateman Properties and One Properties are planning to propose a 28-storey condo building consisting of studios, three bedroom suites and retail space at the corner of 99th street and 89 Avenue.

The SCCL received comments about the project via email, our Facebook page and on the information evening. On Monday 19th December members of the SCCL Board met with One Properties and Parioplan (Planning and Design Consulting firm) to find out the next steps around this project.

Bateman Properties, One Properties and Parioplan are currently undertaking several studies to gain further insights and solutions around the concerns that were voiced during the information evening and via the different media.

One Properties and Parioplan also confirmed that the following steps will be taken:

  1. Submit the planning application to the city before Christmas or at the beginning of 2017.
  2. Launch a website to inform the public about different subjects: plans, drawings, shadow study, traffic etc.
  3. Inform the community via letter.
  4. Present plans to the Edmonton Design Committee
  5. Open house organised by the city.

The SCCL board discusses the above information during the SCCL board meeting on 9th January 2017 and set up activities and communications to inform and represent the members of our community. SCCL will communicate about this project through our website https://strathconacommunity.ca, facebook, the newsletter and/or email.
