Website: Same place, but better!

Strathcona Centre Community League launched its new website in late November. Here are a few things to look for online.

Social Integration

Our new site integrates all our online community homes in one place. Our TwitterFacebook Group, Google Calendar, Flickr photo pool and listserv updates now appear on the homepage, along with all the great info we’ve always had about our league, our community, and our facilities and programs.

Ribbons of History Online

The Ribbons of History, the new public art installation along 99 Street, also makes its online home on the revamped website.

Visitors to the site can read about our community’s history and how it is connected to the art.  There is also an online introduction to the project, as well as the historians’ and artists’ biographies.

Visitors to the street will notice beautiful laser-cut stainless steel bark panels on the pedestrian side of the poles. Each panel has a QR code which can be scanned with a smartphone to bring up information about the art overhead.

Social List Moves to Site Subscribers

If you’re a current member of the SCCL social mailing list, you’ll continue to receive email updates, but they’ll be more responsive to your needs. For example, you’ll be able to set your own email schedule–would you like posts as they happen, once a day, or once a week? And, you’ll be able to comment on existing posts, ask questions of board members and community volunteers, and get responses. Your events will also get wider promotion, as not only will news go to list members, but also the post will appear to general public on the home page of the new website for a time. After that, it will remain in the site’s archives. If you weren’t a member of the mailing list, you can sign up to receive updates from the website.
