Grab your coffee and meet us at The Columbian (8905-99 Street NW) where we will head into the river valley for a walk. Planned distance is 4-5 km. A great way to meet new people and enjoy the weather!

June Pub Night

Last of the season! After this, pub night goes on hiatus until September.

We’re cleaning out the pantry so beer and wine will be $4/ea, Scotch and Irish Whisky will be a dollar off the retail price. And we’ll be serving FREE hotdogs!

Help shape how Bus Rapid Transit moves through your area!

Tuesday, June 9
Strathcona Community Hall: 10140 – 86 Avenue NW

Meet with the Project Team between 5:30 – 8pm
82 Avenue presentation at 6:30pm

The B2 BRT route will create a key east-west connection between West Edmonton Mall and Bonnie Doon via the University of Alberta.

This route is made up of the following segments:

• West Edmonton Mall to South Campus by way of 87 Avenue, 149 Street, Whitemud Drive, Fox Drive and Belgravia Road. The route crosses the North Saskatchewan River using the Quesnell Bridge.
• South Campus to the University of Alberta
• University and Garneau areas to 83 Street (Bonnie Doon) by way of 82 Avenue. While the most eastern stop on the route will be at 83 Street (Bonnie Doon Mall), the project team is exploring the feasibility of a bus turnaround in the vicinity of 71 Street.

Engagement is underway to seek feedback on two key areas of Route B2:

• 82 Avenue: The dedicated lanes (curbside or centre-running) for BRT on 82 Avenue between 109 Street and 83 Street
• University Area: The streets and avenues that BRT will use between 109 Street and the University Transit Centre

Do you want to play sports with friends and family while volunteering within your community? If so, we need you for our first community Sports Day on June 20th from 11-2!

It’s a free, all ages, family friendly event and a great opportunity to play some sports under the sun while enjoying the free BBQ. No experience required. If you want to learn to play or are an experienced athlete, we’d love to have you help out with our day. The event can’t run without volunteers so we need your help to make this happen!

Sports that will be included:

– Pickleball

– Grass volleyball

– Soccer

– Kickball

We also hope to have tug-a-war and cornhole along with music from a volunteer DJ.

We still need more volunteers to help run the sports events above in shifts (1-3 hours depending on availability) and help with set up and clean up. If interested, please send us an email at sport@strathconacommunity.ca

In Alberta, casino fundraising events provide a major source of funding for non-profits, helping the Strathcona Community League run programs and services in the community.

June Bike Month challenge is fast approaching! 

Join us in a collective, friendly community league competition from June 1-30, 2026.

New league prizes this year!

1. League prize: Based on the number of community team members. Between 2-50 earns one ticket for the draw, 25+ earns two tickets.

2. League prize: Based on the total number of League kilometres cycled. 1-999 km earns one ticket for the draw, 1000+ earns two tickets.

3. Individual/family prize: Based on the number of places visited on the 2026 Bike Month Scavenger Hunt (details coming soon)! 1-5 locations visited earns one ticket for the draw, 5+ locations earn two tickets.
