Found Festival | Art in Unexpected Places

Found Festival is Edmonton’s celebration of art in unexpected places, with performances taking place all over Strathcona (and beyond!) from July 9-12!

PSA: Foxtail grass can be FATAL to your pets! 

Please REMOVE THEM FROM YOUR GARDENS, ALLEYWAYS, etc. 

Keep the seeds from dispersing into the air by putting a bag overtop before you pull them. 

Once the plant goes to seed, pets can step on, brush by, or inhale their sharp tips – once stepped on, the barb-shaped seeds hook into your pet’s skin. 

The sharp seeds can work their way into any part of your pet’s body, including their nose, eyes, ears, and mouth, causing serious damage. Because of their pointy shape, they can EMBED themselves inside your pet’s body and can lead to serious infection once inside your dog’s body because they don’t break down. Embedded foxtails can cause discharge, abscesses, swelling, pain, amputation, and even death.

Please watch for this plant in your yards, alleys, and REMOVE them! 

Be aware of taking your pets into areas with tall grasses and watch for these symptoms:

Paws – Swelling, limping, continual licking

Ears – Shaking their head, tilting head to the side, nonstop scratching

Oral – Coughing, gagging, swelling, lump in neck

Body – Swelling, scratching

The EHS Annual Garden Tour is a popular event and a perfect way to spend a weekend in July!

• Tour some of the Edmonton area’s best gardens
• Chat with gardeners

• Visit Old Strathcona’s Rail Garden!

Each year’s tour is self-guided. Your ticket will include the gardens, their addresses with driving directions, and a brief description of what makes each garden special. Start where you choose and proceed at your own pace. The tour goes rain or shine. We do not offer refunds.

The Gardens: The gardens are chosen for quality and variety. Their gardeners are passionate and ready to welcome visitors. Each garden has a particular charm and special features. Many are award-winning gardens. Each year brings new gardens.

From beautifully manicured landscapes to fully edible plots—and everything in between—we’re looking for gardeners to share their spaces on this year’s EHS Garden Tour. Touring: This event is not to be missed if you enjoy gardens and beautiful plants. Make a day or a weekend of it. Invite a friend or two to join you. FREE Green Shack Show for kids!

The Edmonton Arts Council is partnering with the City of Edmonton Green Shacks to host free arts performances for children at Green Shacks across the city, five days a week in July and August (weather and air quality dependent).

Neighbourhood in Bloom is Back!

Volunteers will be choosing their favourite front yards across Edmonton! Gardens that are beautiful, creative, meticulous, colourful, shade friendly, feature edibles and natives, pollinator friendly, good use of space, or those that simply make a passer-by say “Wow!”.

We have a limited number of signs to display so know that although there are many gardens in our neighbourhood that deserve recognition, only some will be highlighted!

Sip & Stroll is ending.

Thanks to everyone who came out while we ran this event.

Attendance has dwindled and we will focus on other ways to connect in the community.

Please join us for the last 2 events, July 5 and August 2, 2026.

Grab your coffee and meet us at The Columbian (8905-99 Street NW) where we will head into the river valley for a walk. Planned distance is 4-5 km. A great way to meet new people and enjoy the weather!

As a community, Strathcona rode 3,428.6 km in June!

Duck out of work for a couple of hours in the morning and join us at the Bike Month Wrap-up Party taking place on Friday, July 3rd at 9:30am at United Sport and Cycle – (7620 Gateway Blvd NW). 

There will be coffee and treats for everyone to enjoy:)

The League with the most kilometers cycled will receive the coveted Bike Month Trophy!

There will also be three prize draws, across the following categories:

• League Team Participants: between 2-50 participants earn a ticket in the draw, 51+ earns two tickets to win a $500 Gift Certificate for your League!
• Total Team Kilometres: between 1-999 earns a ticket in the draw, 1000+ earns two tickets to win a $500 Gift Certificate for your League!
• Scavenger Hunt: Pictures shared with the EFCL earn tickets in the draw to win a fabulous prize basket (individual/family prize)!
