Engaage 106-76 Open House

engage
From the Engage 106-76 Core Team:
It’s been awhile since we have been in touch with you regarding the Engage 106-76 project. We want to say THANK YOU again to those who signed up to become a Community Partner and for helping on the project by sharing your experiences, ideas, and taking the time to listen to others as well as explain “why” you are fearful or in favour of different design solutions for 106 Street and 76 Avenue. Because of this incredible feedback, we are confident that 106 Street and 76 Avenue will be transformed into walkable, bikeable, liveable, public spaces that connect people.
Update: Here’s a quick update on what’s been happening since workshops concluded in October.

  • The City Project Design Team took a look what Community Partners said and worked collaboratively with internal City of Edmonton Community Partners (yes, we had Operations, Sustainable Development, Forestry and many others sign up as Community Partners too!).
  • City Project Design Team met with stakeholders for additional one-on-one meetings (e.g. a school or business)
  • The draft concept plan for 106 Street between 61 Avenue and Saskatchewan Drive and 76 Avenue between 104 Street and Saskatchewan Drive is now complete.

Invitation:

Please come out to our Open House on April 7, 2016 at St. Basil’s Cultural Centre (10819 71 Avenue). Children’s activities will be available.

Core Team community volunteers are helping to plan this Open House to make it as meaningful as possible.  At the Open House, we’ll need your help to dive into the following questions:

  • Where does the Concept Plan do a good job of achieving the project’s Vision and Principles?
  • Are there specific locations it be further improved? Why does it fall short at that location? How could it be improved?
  • Do you feel that your feedback from earlier engagement sessions was adequately addressed by the City Project Design Team?

This will be the last engagement session in the Concept Planning stage, so your participation is super important.  After this, the City Project Design Team will make fine-tuned adjustments to the Concept, and preliminary/detailed design will begin.

If you haven’t already, please sign up as a Community Partner by going to the project website at http://engage106-76.info. This will help ensure you’re prepared for April 7th Open House and get an update when the concept plan is finalized. See you there!

Sincerely,

Engage106-76 Core Team
