Strathcona Place 55+ Centre – Upcoming Events

Posted by & filed under Community Events or Classes.

The Strathcona Place 55+ Centre at 10831 – University Avenue NW in our neighbouring community of Queen Alexandra “…offers multi-cultural activities and services with the  goal of healthy aging.”    Upcoming events include:

  •  the Big Used Book Sale Event which will occur all summer long from 9 AM to 3 PM weekdays … at the Centre.
  •  “Picnic in the Park” at Joe Morris Park this Friday June 30th, 2017. The fun starts at 11:30 AM. I suggest wearing red and white colored shirts for a more Canadian themed vibe for the event.
  •  “Canada Day Dress Up Contest” which will occur alongside the “Picnic in the Park” this coming Friday. Guests will have the chance to win some exciting prizes, and we encourage you to come.

Frontyards in Bloom 2017

Posted by & filed under Neighbourhood.

Front Yards in Bloom is back!

That means another great year for front yards in the City of Edmonton! We encourage you to nominate outstanding yards in your neighbourhood, yards that really make you want to stop and smell the roses. This year the City of Edmonton is excited to be adding a new category for 2017 only, called Uniquely Canadian; gardens that celebrate Canada with red and white flowers or features invoking Edmonton’s shared heritage.
Don’t miss out on being involved in this year’s Front Yards in Bloom! Anyone can nominate a front yard until June 30 and there is no limit on how many front yards you nominate.
Nominations are accepted in five categories: General, Edible, Natural, Public Spaces and Uniquely Canadian. You can nominate on the City of Edmonton’s website or by calling 311. Frontyardsinbloom.ca
The City of Edmonton is always recruiting public volunteers who love to get outside and see some beautiful landscaping. Please check out the website for more details: edmonton.ca/frontyardsinbloom
