Kessler Douglas Group: Kessler Douglas is a bassist, composer, sound artist, improvisor, and music scholar. His sound draws from both his individual musicality and varied influences, which include Ray Brown, Sun Ra, Claude Debussy, Squarepusher, Alfa Mist.
Kessler has recently delved into digital music-making with his album Hellas, combining traditional/acoustic music-making techniques with digital sound design and looping. Kessler has played in venues and arts events across Edmonton and Alberta including the Yardbird Suite, the Edmonton Jazz Festival, and the Flying Canoe Festival. Gourd: Gourd is a psych-rock band from Edmonton that began as a songwriting outlet during the pandemic while other projects were on hiatus and has slowly morphed into its own full-time entity. Inspired by bands like Pink Mountaintops, The Kills, and Mikal Cronin, Gourd uses a base of vintage drum machines and synths to lay the foundation for their music.
