Parking Change | Bike Lane

Changes to Parking! New Bike Lane!

In December 2022, City Council approved funding to expand Edmonton’s active transportation network, focusing on completing missing links in the existing network. This network of shared pathways and bike lanes provides safe and direct options for commuting, running errands, accessing parks and enjoying the river valley for those who walk, cycle and roll.

The City is developing an active transportation connection in the Ritchie and Strathcona neighbourhoods along 100 Street from 83 Avenue to 76 Avenue. A two-way protected bike lane will be constructed from 83 Avenue to 80 Avenue and an on-street shared pathway will be constructed on the west side of 100 Street from 80 Avenue and 76 Avenue. Please see the attached map for details. Construction is anticipated to begin this spring and be completed by the end of 2025.

Due to the implementation of the new active transportation connections, there will be changes to parking and driving in your neighbourhood. You can expect to see the following changes:

● From 76 Avenue and 83 Avenue: conversion of 100 Street to one-way northbound for vehicular traffic.

● At Whyte (82) Avenue and 100 Street intersection:

○ No northbound through movement for vehicular traffic along 100 Street.

○ No left turn from westbound Whyte Avenue onto 100 Street for vehicular traffic.

○ No right turn for vehicular traffic from eastbound Whyte Avenue onto 100 Street.

● Changes to parking:

○ From 83 Avenue to 82 Avenue: permanent removal of parking on the west side of 100 Street.

○ From 82 Avenue to 81 Avenue: permanent removal of parking on the west side of 100 Street.

○ From 81 Avenue to 78 Avenue: permanent removal of parking on both sides of 100 Street.

○ From 78 Avenue to 76 Avenue: permanent removal of parking on the west side of 100 Street and some removal of parking on the east side.

○ From 83 Avenue to 76 Avenue: permanent, minor removal of parking adjacent to various intersections.
