Update on Neighbourhood Renewal – the next open house
Hello neighbours!
In between reminders for next week’s open house (Wednesday, September 26) I wanted to add a couple more details just to catch everyone up on the process, from the community’s working group side.
The concept plan will be unveiled next Wednesday at an open house with a drop-in format. You can come by any time between 4 and 8 p.m. and look at the maps, see what’s changed from the draft plan back in June and talk to City staff who will hopefully be able to answer any questions you may have.
You may already have seen the City’s latest update in your mailbox, but I’ve attached a PDF copy to this post if you haven’t received it yet, or it accidentally ended up in the recycle bin. It highlights a couple of points you’ll probably want to talk about at the open house, and provide feedback on, including traffic calming, park and open space re-design and bike infrastructure. You will, of course, be able to see much more at the open house and in the corresponding maps and documentation that comes out next week.
Even in this brief update, you can see that some changes have been made after feedback from hundreds and hundreds of people at the open house, in a survey and at pop-up engagement sessions in July and August
In my last update I had mentioned that we might have a shuttle to the open house location, since it’s on the other side of Whyte Avenue. Unfortunately, the City will not be providing a shuttle option. If you are planning on driving, we hope you’ll consider it a kindness to mention that to any neighbours who might need a ride and perhaps carpool. The open house location is just on the other side of the Pogo zone, too, if you’re a car-share driver.
One other update from my last update. I had mentioned that a new FAQ document might be circulated by mail, but this will instead be available at the open house, as the City is adding new material to it as more questions come in. There will also be more detailed highlights of survey results and feedback, which is something else folks have been asking about. We will try to coordinate copies of both of these to be available at our hall with paper copies of the survey.
If you’ve got any questions, you can get in touch by email. Or you can reach out to the City’s project team.
