You’re invited: Neighbourhood Renewal Final Design
After more than one year of public engagement with the City of Edmonton, we are close to seeing construction begin on Strathcona’s neighbourhood renewal. This will mean new road surfaces, sidewalks, traffic calming and streetlights throughout the community. There will also be new trees on 86 Avenue, new bike infrastructure, park and public space updates and a 30 km/h posted speed limit.
Open House Details:
When: Tuesday, February 5, 2019
Where: ATB Financial Arts Barns, 10330 84 Avenue
Drop-In Format: 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Along with an opportunity for feedback on how the design has evolved since last year, the open house will provide details on sidewalk improvements and how costs are shared with property owners.
New streetlights will be fully paid for by the City of Edmonton, as an Expression of Interest in the fall did not include a majority of support for upgraded heritage design.
Following the February open house there will be another event in March to provide details as we head into the first year of construction, which should begin this May. This summer’s work is scheduled to occur from 107 Street to 102 Street, between 87 Avenue and Whyte Avenue. Construction will continue in 2020 and 2021.
If you’d like to see how we got here, check out all the updates from previous events, surveys and City newsletters at the dedicated renewal page. You can also see the December 2018 update at that City of Edmonton website. On February 5, the same materials available at the open house will be online too.
