Beat the Heat

With temperatures expected to be hovering around 30 degrees over the next few days, here are a few reminders on how to deal with the heat:

-Limit your time outside from 11am – 2pm, and stick to the shade
-Hydrate with water, even when you aren’t thirsty (stay away from sugary or alcoholic drinks)
-Wear sunscreen, applying 15-30 mins before going outside
-You will notice temporary water filling stations set up around the City, including in front of the Farmers Market building on 83rd Ave.

Also, be sure to check on your neighbors, especially the elderly without air conditioning. Make sure they’ve been drinking enough water, and monitor them for signs of exhaustion (confusion, nausea, headaches, fast pulse, or a fever).

And if you notice an unhoused person in distress, call 211, or 911.

Take heart, a “cold front” is expected next Tuesday!
