HGRC Survey Update

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to fill out our SURVEY about the Hall and Grounds Renewal at the Strathcona Centre Community League.

There were a few questions from the survey that we’d like to address:

Schedule – The rink move is intended to happen this summer. Interior Hall renovations are slotted for 2024 and final Grounds amenities on the south lawn area are currently planned for summer 2025.

Location – Please find a map of the property lines of Strathcona Community League and our initial proposal drawing for the new location of the rink.

New rink – All the existing fencing will be removed and the rink boards will be permanent in the new location. 

Court Sports – We intend to resurface the court/rink area and have one tennis court, 2 pickleball courts and an area for ball hockey available inside the rink boards in summer. They will not all be able to be used at once. 

Final Grounds amenities – with the open south lawn, we will continue to have the small rink and crokicurl in winter and are investigating additional features, seating, shade etc, as we move through the design process.

Playground – the playground is on City property and is not in the scope of this project.

Cost – all costs are intended to be covered by League funds and matching grants. We may also fundraise for special amenities.
