Membership info (fees, hockey, free swim)

Membership fees the same, but online fee has increased:  In addition to the door-to-door canvassing that volunteers undertake in the fall, memberships are always available from our Membership Directors Lois or Jeanie (see contact info below).  Memberships are valid from Sept 1 to Aug 31, and the cost is $20/family, $15/single or $5/senior.  In addition, the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL) sells memberships through their website.  They add an administrative surcharge that has just increased from $2 to $5 per transaction.  The EFCL have indicated that their administrative costs have gone up significantly, so have increased the surcharge accordingly.

Note to hockey families:  If you are purchasing a membership for next year in order for your child to play hockey in the fall, please buy it through the league (either method below), rather than through your hockey club.  Unfortunately many hockey clubs do not have a process to get the information/funds to us in a timely manner, and we often end up with stale-dated cheques, and members often end up buying a second membership later in the year.

Discounts/Community Swim:  Your membership can be used to get a discount when purchasing a multi-use pass at City of Edmonton recreation centres (eg. Kinsmen).  And there will be free community swims for members at outdoor pools:

  • Mill Creek Outdoor Pool – (May 30 to Sept 6)   Daily, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
  • Queen Elizabeth Outdoor Pool – (May 31 – August 28)   Sun & Tues 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Mon & Wed 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
  • Fred Broadstock Outdoor Pool – (May 30 to Aug 29)   Sun to Wed 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
  • Oliver Outdoor Pool (Jun 14 to Sept 6)   Sun to Wed 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

  • Go to: http://efcl.org/membership/ and enter the league name (Strathcona Centre) or your address.  Make sure you select the current year if you want the membership for a recreation discount or the free community swim.
