Mezzo Development Back to Council |Nov 15, 2017
I am not sure if you are aware but the Mezzo development is going back to council on November 15, 2017 as the affordable housing agreement with Habitat for Humanity has fallen through. It is our understanding that it was not a firm agreement when presented to council April 2016 when the Mezzo project was approved. This affordable housing provision we believe was a contributing factor for councillors to approve this development. The Strathcona Community League will be speaking against approval of this new amendment and encourage you to use social media, emails, etc. to let council know your opinion regarding this issue. If council approves this in principle it means developers can propose one thing for approval and then go back to council for reapproval later. It is a bait and switch tactic which the community league does not support.
The Mezzo approval has greatly impacted our community. Please share your opinions with the Mayor and councillors.
The following councillors did not support approval of the Mezzo development.
Councillor Henderson
Councillor McKeen
Councillor Knack
Maureen Duguay
President SCCL
