Reminder for Wednesday: Neighbourhood renewal concept plan
This Wednesday you can get your first look at the concept plan for Strathcona’s neighbourhood renewal.
When: Wednesday, June 20, 2018
Where: St. Basil’s Cultural Centre, 10819 71 Avenue
Drop-In format: 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The City will be looking for feedback on the concept plan, especially related to:
  • Locations and measures to reduce speeding and shortcutting
  • New bike infrastructure proposed for 87 Avenue, 100 and 98 Streets
  • Improvements to park spaces, including Tubby Bateman and Fred A. Moire Parks
  • Enhancing and improving pedestrian crossings
  • Discussion of Councillor Ben Henderson’s motion to have Strathcona streets designed for 30 km/h speed limits in the neighbourhood
Your input will be needed to help get a final concept plan designed for September 2018. Construction will occur throughout the neighbourhood beginning next year (2019-2021). If you can’t make it out on Wednesday, there will be further opportunities for input and feedback throughout the summer. The first will be a survey available soon after the open house.
Make sure you’re signed up for our community league newsletter to receive the survey link and more.
For more information, see our league updates on the project, or the City’s Building Strathcona page. If you have any questions or comments you can also reach out to the co-chair of the neighbourhood renewal working group, Jeff Samsonow, at jeffsamsonow@yahoo.com
