Strathcona Community Garden Water Well Update
Although, the early summer rain delayed construction of the shed, things have moved along since August. September saw the shed construction completed and solar panels installed. We are thrilled to let you know that full completion of the project is anticipated by mid-October.
The shed houses two 1000L water containers. A solar-powered pump will be installed in October, and tested by mid-month. We are eagerly awaiting the day when we can turn on the tap!
Gardeners are excited by the prospect that next season water will be available from the garden’s own well, powered by renewable, sustainable energy – the sun.
All community league members are welcome to drop by the garden to see the shed. Please send us an email if you’re visiting and we will arrange to have a member of the committee available to give you a tour.
This project would not have been possible without the ongoing support of Old Strathcona area community leagues. We cannot thank all league volunteers enough, not only for financial contributions, but for the belief that we could accomplish this task, despite some of its challenges.
Kind regards,
Strathcona Centre Garden Committee
