Summer 2021 Whyte Avenue Survey

Community Leagues along Whyte Avenue west of the Mill Creek ravine have partnered to develop a survey to gauge what community members think the future of Whyte Avenue as Main Street could look like. They are working with Paths for People, a non-profit focused on safer, more liveable streets, to develop a strong community front that can influence decisions regarding the future of Edmonton’s premiere Main Street.

Whyte Avenue is Edmonton’s most loved Main Street.

Whyte itself has changed a lot over the past few years with regard to land use and development! This summer and last summer, the City has also expanded public spaces sidewalks to help business cope with the pandemic and open up access for Edmontonians rolling and walking In the near future, it will change even more. The road itself, sidewalks, and other public spaces along the corridor will be renewed in the coming decade.

The survey is only ten questions long. It should take about 5-10 minutes. This survey is focused on the Public Realm. The Public Realm includes roads, sidewalks, bus stops, trees, lamp posts, and more. It is basically everything between the private property lines.
